I genuinely appreciate your work. but, above all I appreciate the fact that your are an educator with your craft and drive. I come to read the commentary just as much as I do to study the images. thank you.
Thanks so much. I certainly wouldn’t be where I am without help from others and am always happy to talk shop with people who are interested. Photography for me is much more than just technical jargon, which I think too many people get caught up in. Talking theory and what makes good photographs is endlessly interesting to me. Glad you enjoy it!
What was your reaction to being selected for the artist initiative? How long did it take from application to hearing back and now long before your project is complete? Tx
I was thrilled to when I found out I was chosen for the VSCo Artist Initiative. It’s the first large scale art project I’ve been able to work on and it’s been an amazing experience. It took a couple of weeks for them to contact me, but the whole process moved along very quickly. The photo part of my project is completed, and now I’m working with VSCo to make a book and gallery show of the work.
hi josh. i really enjoy your photographs. thanks for making them. would you mind revealing the method for getting that nice hazy look in your photograph "Annie Montgomery - Brooklyn?" thanks much. steve metz, cincinnati ohio.
Thanks Steve, that effect is actually from the way the sun was hitting the car and refracting through the windows. For me it’s always easier to get the lighting in camera than in post.
